Walking the trail:

  • Summary: A great days circular walk taking in some epic Tors, open moorland, woods and old bronze age settlements. Even better finishing around sunset at Hound Tor!

Dartmoor is one of my favourite places in England to explore.

This single day trail is a 10.5 mile circular route and starts at the car park just west of Hound Tor. (postcode TQ13 9XQ)

The route is a mix of some great Tors, open moorland, woods, single track roads and an old bronze age settlement. Its a fairly easy walk however there is a fair bit of uphill from mile 4 to 6, but then pretty much downhill from there. You can also grab a decent tea/coffee and refreshments from the burger van in the car park (bring cash) at the end and i would recommend relaxing up Hound Tor for the evening sunset.
